CLOT1 (2019) textile, zinc alum, steel, water, wax, motorised pump, speaker.
Clot1 investigates skin’s sensory and potentially inscriptive nature and considers its role within embodied life. The large scale work, which stands approximately 3 metres in height, encourages the entropic nature of fabric to explore resistance and surrender as transient forces “languaged” on the skin. Constructed from textured fabrics and treated with a solution that encourages rapid discolouration, the distorted forms conjure the notion of a skewed perception of self and suggest a perceived need to present an amalgam of various part selves in order to function.
