BENEATH (2019) Discarded mattress, light.

This triptych consists of a figurative frieze carved into a discarded foam mattress. The work isolates elements of the human form, illuminating them, much like when a torch is pushed against the surface of the skin. The varied marks and gouges record how trauma can be worn on the body, becoming at times an inescapable part of our form and experienced history.
